Arborescent is a new project inspired by the work of highly influential architect and composer, Iannis Xenakis (1922-2001). Xenakis' practice was inherently multi-disciplinary, working on the principle that an artistic expression can be realised mathematically in any artistic medium. He represented his ideas through drawings (referring to them to as 'arborescences'), which he famously used as non-traditional, graphic scores for orchestral recital.
 
Taking inspiration from Xenakis' creative approach, Arborescent has commissioned three new graphic scores by practitioners who explore the boundaries of visual art, architecture, and composition, framing the event with a screening of Kidels BBC documentary of the composer and his influences.
